Why this course exists

Purpose

This course develops the operational understanding required to integrate technology, sensors, platforms and data systems into practical explosive risk mitigation workflows.

Who should attend

Target Audience

This course is suitable for operations managers, technical managers, survey personnel, information management staff, technology leads, project managers, innovation focal points, HMA personnel, security organisations and institutions seeking to introduce or improve technology-enabled operations.

What is covered

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to the practical integration of technology into explosive risk mitigation operations. It focuses on understanding operational need, selecting appropriate technology, planning safe use, managing data, linking outputs to decision-making and identifying limitations. The course does not present technology as a replacement for authorised survey, clearance, EOD, IEDD, QA/QC or command decision-making. Learning Areas

• Role of technology in explosive risk mitigation.
• Operational need, problem definition and technology selection.
• Sensors, platforms and data systems overview.
• UAS, remote sensing, mapping, GIS support, data capture, storage, processing and reporting.
• Integration with survey, clearance, security or crisis response workflows.
• Information management and decision-support considerations.
• Safety, permissions, regulatory and data-protection considerations.
• Technology limitations, validation and quality assurance.
• Operational trials, lessons identified and improvement planning.

How it is delivered

Delivery Format

Delivery may include classroom instruction, facilitated workshops, technology demonstrations, map and data exercises, scenario-based planning, workflow mapping, case-study review, operational integration tasks and after-action review.

Prerequisites

Entry Requirements

Participants should hold a role connected to operations, survey, information management, technology integration, project delivery, security planning, HMA operations, crisis response or organisational capability development. Prior technical experience is useful but not mandatory.

On completion

Expected Outcome

On completion, participants should be able to understand how technology can support operational workflows, identify suitable integration points, recognise limitations, manage data considerations and contribute to responsible technology-enabled capability development.

Flexibility

Bespoke Options

This course may be adapted for HMA, security, border management, crisis response, infrastructure protection, UAS support, sensor trials, GIS, information management, innovation projects or wider capability development.
