This course develops the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct non-intrusive and intrusive survey in support of evidence-based land release, task definition and clearance planning.

This course is suitable for HMA survey teams and survey personnel, field operators, team leaders, NMAA / NMAC staff and organisations involved in land release or contamination assessment.

• Land release principles and survey methodology.
• Non-intrusive survey purpose, evidence and limitations.
• Community engagement and information collection.
• Mapping, sketching, recording and reporting.
• Intrusive survey planning and control measures.
• Use of manual, mechanical or detection assets in survey.
• Hazard area classification and task definition.
• Evidence-based decision-making.
• Linkages with clearance, EORE and information management.
• Reporting to national authority or client systems.

Delivery may include pre-course learning, classroom instruction, map exercises, interview practice, survey planning exercises, field reconnaissance, controlled technical survey lanes, reporting tasks and supervised practical assessment.

Participants should be physically able to conduct field-based training and should meet any client, organisational or national authority requirements. Entry requirements include holding an IMAS EOD 1 or equivalent qualification.

On completion, participants should be able to support non-intrusive and intrusive survey activities, collect and assess relevant evidence, and contribute to accurate land release and task planning decisions within approved procedures.

This course may be tailored toward non-intrusive survey, intrusive survey, or a combined survey approach. It may also be linked with EORE, Community Liaison, IMSMA / information management, land release planning or operational mentoring.
