Purpose
This course develops IEDD operator and No.2 operator capability for personnel required to support improvised explosive device disposal tasks within defined legal, organisational and procedural authority.

Target Audience This course is suitable for appropriately selected personnel from authorised organisations who require IEDD operator or No.2 operator training. Participants should be nominated by their organisation and should meet agreed entry standards for specialist IEDD training.
Overview The course introduces the knowledge, procedures and practical skills required to support IEDD operations within defined operational limits. It is focused on operator-level and No.2 operator functions and is designed around controlled procedures, safety discipline, task organisation, threat assessment, reporting, cordon control, support actions and supervised practical application.

- Task organisation, command and control.
- Cordon, safety and incident control measures.
- Search support and information gathering.
- Manual and procedural approaches within authorised scope.
- Reporting, documentation and evidence awareness.
- Practical IEDD scenarios and supervised drills.
- Limitations, escalation and handover requirement.
How it is delivered
Delivery Format
Delivery may include pre-course learning, classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, inert training aids, scenario-based exercises, controlled IEDD lanes, task rehearsals, supervised practical assessments and after-action review.
Prerequisites
Entry Requirements
Participants should be physically able to conduct field-based training and should meet any client, organisational or national authority requirements. Entry requirements include prior EOD, search, security, police or technical operational experience, (IMAS EOD Level 3 or equivalent) depending on the client requirement and intended role.
On completion
Expected Outcome
On completion, participants should understand and be able to perform defined IEDD operator or No.2 operator functions within approved procedures, organisational authority and agreed equipment limitations.
