This course develops the knowledge and practical planning skills required to design, review and improve contingency arrangements for commercial organisations facing security, crisis, disruption or emergency risks.

This course is suitable for security managers, operations managers, business continuity personnel, crisis management teams, facility managers, project managers, NGO security personnel and organisations requiring practical contingency planning support.

• Contingency planning principles and planning cycle.
• Risk, threat and disruption scenarios.
• Critical functions, dependencies, priority activities, response options and escalation triggers.
• Roles, responsibilities, decision-making structures, communications, warning and reporting arrangements.
• Evacuation, lockdown, relocation or shelter considerations.
• Incident logs, documentation and post-incident review.
• Table-top exercise design and facilitated scenario testing.
• Plan review, validation and improvement actions.

Delivery may include classroom instruction, facilitated planning workshops, table-top exercises, scenario development, plan-review tasks, group exercises, crisis-cell rehearsal and after-action review.

Participants should hold a role connected to security, operations, business continuity, crisis response, facility management, project delivery or organisational leadership.

On completion, participants should be able to support the development, review and improvement of practical contingency arrangements for commercial security, crisis or disruption scenarios.
