This course develops the knowledge and practical awareness required to support the safe, accountable and secure management of ammunition storage facilities, depot controls, safety systems and operational procedures.

This course is suitable for ammunition storekeepers, depot staff, armoury personnel, logistics personnel, security personnel, supervisors, ammunition management staff, police, border security and government personnel involved in the management, security or supervision of ammunition and explosive stores.

• Introduction to ammunition management and PSSM principles.
• Ammunition storage facility roles, responsibilities and depot layout, access control and physical security.
• Ammunition accounting, records and stock control.
• Storage safety, segregation and compatibility awareness.
• Inspection routines, serviceability checks and reporting.
• Fire prevention, emergency arrangements and incident response.
• Safe handling, movement and local transport considerations.
• Risk reduction, loss prevention and security culture.
• SOPs, documentation, supervision and quality control.

Delivery may include classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, depot or store walk-throughs, table-top exercises, inspection tasks, stock-control scenarios, emergency response discussions and supervised planning activities.

Participants should hold a role connected to ammunition storage, logistics, security, depot operations, stock control, supervision, explosive safety or organisational ammunition management.

On completion, participants should understand the core principles of physical stockpile and security management and be able to support safer, more accountable and better-controlled ammunition storage activity within approved national and organisational procedures.

This course may be adapted for military depots, police armouries, border security stores, government stockpiles, training establishments or field storage sites.
